Not burning to the end of the disc

Chewy brought up a great point of not burning to the edge of a disk. I was wondering what you feel is a good end to burn to, lately I have been shrinking them to 4.3 to 4.4 gig and seem to be getting good results. Here's your chance to give an opinion.

The reason I started this thread is because I notice alot of discs at the end have problems, wether it be cheap or quality media. Quality always does better however

I follow with soup, the default 4464 MB in Shrink, with quality media. Even with not so great quality media most of my problems arise at the beginning or middle of the DVD. But I have seen several scans of others with problems at the end. This just has never been the case with me, so I continue to live on the edge.

I'm sure if I really dug, I would find this, is there a way to set dvd shrink to a custom setting such as that as a default?

4200MB with quality media. i believe fingerprints, and regular handling in and out of cases and trays damages the outer edge eventually.

I have been using that setting for a while now even tried 4468 too and never had a problem with a burn I use TY, Verbatim and even some Princco's all 3 with no problems burning to the edge.
