        as far as the disks i have burned over a hundred of theese d/l disks with no prob till now

        The discs that you are using are not consistant with quality meaning you may have some great discs in the bundle that you bought and you may have some OK doscs and you may have some crapy discs in the same bunch that you bought.

        It is possible that the ones you used to burn with in the past you got lucky and got some good ones.

        Verbatims = constantly excellent.

        It is also possible that your burner may be going.

          that's about as bad it gets

          the older sony firmware is probably not helping anything, but even the benq 1640 can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

                      My apologies for mentioning a companies name where I buy my media disks from in my last post.I am told I was not allowed to say that because it is considered spamming.It was not my intention to spam anyone I am just a satisfied paying customer with the store and was only trying to help by making a suggestion.

                        every now and then online stores have a few short time deals on verbatims, usually gone in a few hours, the brick and mortar sales are the best way to go.

                        I am spoiled I live within 5 miles of officemax, staples, compusa, bestbuy and circuit city

                          Yes they do,I shop online alot because I am along way away from stores here.The place where I buy my media has a set price and they send me coupons to for discounts like 10% or 15% off that helps alot.I buy alot of blank disks because I do video recording with my digital cam alot and put them on Dvds for family members.so it helps when you save a few bucks now and then.
