        the 2X blu-ray burn speed should convert to almost 7X dvd speed,

        I am guessing about 119 minutes to write the full 50 gigs.

        @night,

        I did some big karaoke cd projects, about 4 hours was the longest continuous run, but was using plex prem cd burners.

            Say what you will, and I agree with all of you that's it way too much money, but you're forgetting that there are people that have to be the first at everything. They have to have the first, fastest, biggest, best, costliest piece of crap that comes out. And they'll do it everytime! Remember when hi-fi VCRs came out? I just had to have one and had to be among the first to have one. I justified it by saying I could put all my albums on video tape and the quality would be lossless. Every bit as good as a reel to reel. Well, I bought one for around 1300.00 and never regretted it till about 6 months later when I could buy the same thing for less than half. I did convert all my albums though and like all magnetic tape, they sure don't sound like the original anymore.
            Blessed are they who expect nothing, for they shall not be disappointed!

              Let me make a historical analogy, Nasa when they developed the Apollo program paid out the arse for some transistors(100K) apiece from RCA
              that would power amplify 40-20K Hrtz at 50W rms, the next batch they got a lot cheaper. So the astronauts could have solid state compact stereo.
              A few years later they were dirt cheap.
              When they planned Voyager, a guy spent a year designing an IBM 360 to fit into 2 shoeboxes with a 90% reliability for 5 years.
