Should I Upgrade

I have a Lite-on sohw-832s DVD DL drive that is only 8x, would I see a great improvement if I upgrade to a 16x?

I am new to DVD burning and this web site has been very helpful.

Not really...the recommended speed for burning movies is half the rated speed of the media. If your firmware has been updated to support 16X media all you need is the 8X burner and the 16X discs. If you are having issues with the quality it could be your process for burning or encoding...or the burner, but more than likely the latter.

So far I have had no real problems with burning DVD's except for an occasional movie having a spot or two where it just freezes. I have no idea what causes this.

Burners are cheap nowadays and a quality one can be picked up online for around $40 and it's always nice to have more than one drive to choose from.
