Sudden problem with Nero Express 7.0 NeroError(-1066)

I am very puzzled. I have been burning DVDs for more than an year. Than suddendly I start to get some "failed burn".
I did NOT change any piece of hardware or software. I was not using the computer while burning. The DVD img is in a dedicated unfragmented partition. No other programs were running in the background.
I tried to reduce the burning speed but I still get burning errors. And with time the problem got worst. Initially I was getting an error once in a while now all my DVD burning session fail. I got a LOG, if you can help, I would appreciate it!

that burner is getting on in age, you might try flashing it with newer firmware

boot into safe mode to flash

Well I think it was Nero to take the memory because I run Task manager BEFORE and AFTER starting the burning section and the memory usage was next to nothing and the CPU usage was close to o%.

Anyway I followed the Chewy advice and I updated the firmware. Well I burned two DVDs at 2X and it worked! 2 good ones after 6 trashed one. Now I am going to try a third one...

I'll keep you posted. But, for now, let me thank you all for your support. I really appreciate it!

LT is right, you have to do something about that memory in use.

            ReadBuffer-Pipe got 72704KB of Memory
at 4x that should be enough, it's still a good idea to run lean and mean,
            eliminates conflicts

nero recommends 128000 KB minimum though. something else must be using memory. what happens when he wants to burn at 8x?

yes before nero starts he only has 130megs available, maybe less if windows releases some.

that means he's using ~370MB at idle

from your cd burn log I would guess you had about 200MB at idle

Well, I am burning at 2X fine (before I could not even burn at 1X). So I am happy. regarding the memory usage, I repeat, there was something odd going on. I say so because I used Task Manager just BEFORE and AFTEr the burning and CPU and MEMORY usage was close to zero! Hence the peak of memory usage was either due to Nero (that was eating up memory) or something odd was going on. I am still puzzled why suddendly without installing software or harware I was unable to burn. Weird... anyway the burning is proceding fine at 2x and I am gonna try at 4x right now...

Thanks a lot again guys you are GREAT!!!!

that's page file use you are looking at, under that is physical memory(K)
available is what you have ready to use(mine is 330MB) of 512MB

My phisical memory "total" is 522332, and the available is 91456K... I removed some applications from the startup list (using msconfig) and now I am up to 169472K... I've pratically doubled the available memory. Amazing.
I am still puzzled though, because none of the removed apps are new. So if it is not working now it should not have worked even before. And the problem got fixed just upgrading the firmware... odd...

                      Oh well.

                      Thanks a lot guys!

I think nero will only run on a computer that has at least 128megs total ram,
god forbid, that's one test I don't want to do

for dvd and video authoring a 1.3Ghz cpu and 128MB ram
