    Lite-on SOHW-1213S & TYG03 Media

last night i had TS0D, but before i decided to burn one of these TYG03's i updated to the next and most recent TS0J and got this. buffers don't even go up, just "burn failed" before it even starts to write? i had to take an rw and use that, transfer it to other pc so i can burn it on the old pioneer on this TYG03 media. glad i have 2 burners or i'd be SOL with these 100 discs i bought. why can't they work with the lite-on? i was under the impression OLDER burners would give problems, it's the other way around.

1.did you flash in dangerous mode?

nevermind they left it out of the firmware and the date is wrong at rpc1

    I wouldn't classify a 1213 as new

    step one download MediaCodeSpeedEdit
    DVD,DVD-R,DVD+R,patch,riplock patch,riplock removed,read speed patch,speed edit,write strategy,swapping,media code,Liteon,Benq 822,Benq DW822,Benq 1620,Benq DW1620,Benq 1640,Benq DW1640,LG 4163,LG 4165,LG 4167,NEC ND-3520A,ND-3540A,NEC 3520,NEC 3540,NEC 4550,Pioneer 109,Pioneer 110,BTC,Samsung,Artec

this is a tool just for verification

      next go to

and look up your liteon or sony drive
      which takes us to codeguys

their firmware is cracked so we can see what mid codes are supported with
      MCSE

after downloading that firmwware and extracting and loading into MCSE we see there is no entry for TYG03, those dasturds!

now knowing that a 1213 is in the same family with 1633, sony 710 and liteon 1653 we see CSOT at the bottom of the group

        • CS0T - patched - crossflashing, multi-colored LED (for 1213S, 1613S, 1633S, etc.)
TYG03 is supported with this firmware

nevermind, i see now. so the 1653s is the one hey. how you figured all this out is beyond me.

will this decrease my ability with using new media? like my sony's?

anyway, i've downloaded it and am extracting....

ok, i have my extracted file. i'm about to flash this sucker. should i wear goggles? while i'm doing this chewy 2 things

                1) is this drive going to be like an old drive, or newer one? and how about new media compatibility after the flash?

                2) i tried to load 2 firmwares in MCSE and nothing happens, what gives?

                wish me luck

only cracked ones with liteons work, you need the bin files for the old firmware but the exe's for the new one work

                  keep playing with it

well it burned ok. i noticed now it appears to have made my drive dual layer ready. also instead of flashing green light when burning, a steady red. also instead of 20 sec till it starts writing, about a minute. i tried a scan, don't know if i did it right this time because i didn't get the same windows as before. cause of the flash i guess. looks scary.

pretty ugly, try an 8x burn(god forbid) and no scans slower than 4x

might need to blow the cigar smoke off the laser

I don't know if can be useful, but can you download latest version of cd-dvd speed? It have a new method to do burnings in the "create disc" tab, that shows also CPU and buffer usage during the burn. It could give more informations on what happen during the burn.
