Oops! Flashed Norwood DW1650 to Benq DW 1655

Well, I don't know how I did this

I used the BQFlasher, & flashed my new Norwood DW1650 with BCIB firmware, now it is showing as a Benq DW1655!

I know, I should have paid closer attention to the firmware to verify that it was for the correct model

Question is; Is the drive really a 1655 now? Can I use it this way or should I try to flash it to the correct model before doing anything with it?

    Regards, katz

Well, it is not a lightscribe burner, plus I never use lightscribe on my other burner anyway! Easier/faster to print labels on the CD.

So, what you are saying is that this drive is technically still a 1650, even though it shows as being a 1655? Very confusing!

Should I try flashing with 1650 firmware, or should I leave it as it is?

you can go back and forth if yo like, I could not tell the diff between the two firm ware 50/55 in quality wise

I tend to like the 55 firmware

Since the drives use the exact same hardware for burning the dvd part,
I would assume the firmwares use the same write strategies, all you do by changing is make the drive start to learn media all over.

                Thanks guys!
I will leave it as it is & see how it works out. Hopefully I will get some top notch burns to post in the Disc Quality Scan Thread!

                Regards, katz
