When I came here last year because I was having burn probs I too was using Memorex and I can tell you with absolute certainty it does make a huge difference as Tran said I got bad batch and out of 100 almost 1/3 were coasters go to Officemax when Verbs are on sale and you'll see and if you insist on memorex burn no faster than 4x trust me I was skeptical when the lifers here told me cheap media was my biggest problem (not the only one)Do what I did 9 months ago get some verbs get some sony memorex etc. and burn and scan at all different speeds with nero speed test and you will find optimal speed and brand for your drive then stick with it.

When I first got into scanning for errors 2 years ago I started spot checking my data base, certain brands with particular mid codes got scanned until I saw a pattern.
Recovering the data from those bad burns and reburning was a lot of trouble, some I just pitched. Memorex was one of the worst brands, the ritek G05's the worst mid code.

Mine weren't that good but I had burned them long ago on a pioneer burner, it's hard to tell what a modern burner would do with them.

hi jblitz. i've been using maxell 4 a long time now. b4 i joined here, and only knew how to throw the source, and the blank in nero, and burn. never had problems w/them at all. now that's w/out checking them out on the scanners. they're not the greatest i would think, but not bad by any means. pro-disc usually makes them, and they're pretty reputable. their cds are not bad either, but that's by word of mouth from a couple of other fellas. i'm going to try their cds. $13.88 at Sam's is not bad, but you could usually get them 4 $25 100/spindle at newegg. free shipping. kinda depends what you're looking to burn. memorex is terrible. that much i know 4 sure. their audio cds though aren't too bad though.

Nephew gave me a 30 spindle of Disney High School Musical 16X Dvd-R blanks. Apparently he picked up some spindles of these for $2 each. Haven't burnt or scanned any of them yet. MID = ISSM R02 & on the back hub, 9F-16 1 - 1 - 1 0806170843-20.

                          Verbatim on sale

Today is the last day, at Officemax 100 DVD+r for $19.99 abd CDR for $14.99. I ran across the sale, by hitting Best Buy, they wanted $30.99 for 50 disks or 30. On that one I am not sure. But I know that I was not going to pay that much for so little.

I was at officemax on Monday. They had some verbatims that were labeled as archival rated media. Is it just a marketing ploy or are the disks better that the standard Verbatim DVDs.

I love it at the stores in our area. Even if you are rightfully one of the first in line, everyone just glares at you like you shouldnt be there. I especially loved last year when I got a digital camera on sale at KMart. Got the last one, and everybody flipped. Then, the 2GB SD cards were on sale for like 12, I think. I had to make several attempts at getting over to their location because it was a popular spot for the elderly to hang out for some reason.
