    Nero will not burn DVD-R

Hi dont know if anyone can help me. I have always used Nero 6.6.0.18 to burn to DVD-R without any problems. Recently i upgraded Nero but then had problems writng via DVDShrink. So i followed your advice and reverted to 6.6.0.18. However now i cant burn via DVDShrink or Nero. If i use a DVD-R it states that a DVD-R is in the drive however says that it is not writeable. I have tried uninstalling Nero and then reinstalling but with no luck.

The weird thing to me is that i have a single DVD+RW disk and this works fine. Its just really annoying constantly having to erase and rewrite to his one disk.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

download imgburn or use dvddecrypter and see what they say when you put a dvd-r blank in the drive

in write mode they will show if it's writtable or not

        drive may be bad/dirty?

          Physical Format Information (Last Recorded):

yeah havent experienced any problems with reading.

am i right to assume that i want the latest firmware, ie BYX5.

Also once i have downloaded the firmware is it as simple as just running the .exe. Just checking due to it saying that its vital this is done properly.

              Cheers again mate.

I would try to shut down as many programs running in the background, as possible before executing the firmware upgrade, usb burning is iffy at best due to the nature of the usb bus being system intensive.

                that's the firmware you need

make sure the drive is empty

imgburn seemed to think you had a SONY DVD RW DRU-710A

the ul just meant it was in a usb enclosure
