Roxio burn very slow (and Newbie)

    Hello all,
I'm using Roxio Creator Plus-Dell Edition
    Build 2.4.32a

and the DVDs are Memorex recordable 16x-4.7GB DVD-R

While making a back up copy of a DVD that was decoded using DVDFab and Shrunk using DVDShrink, my current burn speed is .39x (the target says 16x). Sometimes I notice it goes up to 1.43x, but it likes to linger around .4X

What might I try to increase the burn speed?

    Thanks,
    Tiff

    Is your DMA on?

Do you have a burn log you could post? Is this internal or external burner?

      Internal.

I'm burning something else now. I will see if Roxio does a log. One of the computer guys here told me this is why he doesn't use Roxio, but there has to be another problem.

I will post the log as soon as I have it (if I can find one)...

      Tiff.

Did you check your DMA? Having your DMA off will quite often cause this.

Below are my DMA settings. I can not change the Device1 options. Well, I do not know how to change them. Is this what's causing the problem?

we can apply a quick fix, but the fact that you are using a dell and it looks like you have added a dvd burner to the computer leads me to suspect the drive(s) are not configured properly

would you elaborate a little on any upgrades??

This is the way the computer came out of the box. It's an optiplex gx520.

Still think the drives aren't config correctly?

What info do you need me to give you? I can try to find the specs on the computer...Want that?

I'm doing some work right now, but should be able to try this out in about 20-30 minutes. I will post if I have any problems.
                  Thanks,
                  Tiffany
