dvds skipping when burned, fixed when burned twice?

I've lately had problems and don't know what the solution is. so many different guesses.. My dvd burns have been skipping... so i have re-burned them on dvd rw media maxell, then play to see that it works.. it does, so i burn it again onto dvd+r maxell... then they play fine.. why don't they play fine on the first disk i burn them on? ive had to throw away a lot of disks lately.. my dvd burner is only 6 months old, as is my dvd player both sony... im using clone dvd2 to burn it.. i thought maybe the originals are scratched and that makes it skip when being burned..?

imgburn is free and works great and you can post a burn log so we can analyze the problem

i had problems with dvds not burning at all or not buring all the way , figured it was nero, so i bought the clonedvd2 program last month .. im having problems still.. sucks..
what are the issues with clonedvd2 that u heard?
maxell isnt too good?
i will only buy: maxell,memorex,imation,sony. i usually only get maxell or memorex cuz that is what i buy from walmart.com.. and it is cheap.

Stay with Maxell in that bunch ... I personally would Stay Away from Memorex (pretty unreliable) ...

I have used Sony .. they are OK ... Imation I have never used ...
