    Burn problem

    Hi.
    I have an HP Pavilion dv6000 series laptop running Vista.
    I have been burning DVDs on this laptop using Nero 8. It was working flawlessly. However, now I am having some trouble with this. While burning, Nero fails and gives me this error message:

    Illegal disc
    E: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4084N


    Please tell me how to resolve this issue. Here is what the log file has to say:

      you can give it some more tries at 4x with that iffy media, those cmc mag

      are very hit or miss

      you'll need to check your dma, nero isn't showing anything and it's not identifying the mid code like it should

      it's hard to pinpoint the problem, could be several things, blanks, nero, burning too fast,
      problem laptop drives?

          Hi Chewy and thanks for the prompt reply.

          I have checked the DMA status and it is enabled. These disks are very reliable. I have been using them for almost 2 years now. Even on the link you provided, it is listed as one of the best ones.

          I have also tried to burn at lower speeds, but I still get the same error.

          What is mid code?

          Any other ideas as to how I can figure out the problem?
