I would think the chipset driver was the important one, but then you must have something already, might even be that version?

compare the date to the driver that was installed already(from cd?)

The one on the original cd that came with the motherboard is from 2005, but the one on the website is from 2006, only thing is that do you think windows would have picked up updates for everything via windows update? Or should I go ahead and install the ones from the website.

never use windows update for drivers, we did a clean install on a friend's and he went to windows updates for a modem driver(which he didn't need) and windows loaded an extra set of ide's for him while he was there, his games quit working, probably some safedisk glitch

he finally uninstalled all the ide's(trial and error) and then it fixed it

I would try the newest driver from gigabyte. Your old ones probably are getting corrupt?

try to find some better blanks

see the stickies for power user setup and freeing up resources in general computing just to make sure your computer doesn't have issues

Do all your ram sticks match up exactly?

I've ordered some new blank dvds and they should be here by monday, so will really know when they come. I have 2 identical corsair 1GB ram sticks, exactly the same model and brand.

I don't have any speed issues with my pc at all. Windows XP loads extremely fast at startup, and as you can see from the various nero logs it never uses more then 30% of RAM from my 2GB total. All I have running in startup is the nvidia software, realtek hd audio manager, windows live messenger, and nod32 antivirus. I also run disk cleanup, and ccleaner from time to time.

do the spd settings for the ram match the bios settings?

                  cpu-z

do you have another computer to check the burner in?

or another burner to check in that one?

See attached image. Do you think it would be easier to check the blank media in another pc? I can do that easily. I have other pcs to swop out the burner but will take some time.

my amd64 did not like that corsair value ram

just in case the drive and the blanks check out and it points back to your computer you might check the ram with a memtest boot cd?

Why didn't your amd64 not like the corsair ram? I personally think that its the horrible media i bought, this lg drive really hates it for some reason, don't know why I keep purchasing it! I once bought a 100 pack of d-shirt media which had cmc mag ae1 dye and it rejected all of them, wudn't even burn would just reject at the beginning of the burn lol. This time I've bought 2 50 packs of bulkpaq dvd-r media, see how that goes on monday when it comes. The bulkpaq's I've purchased in the past work superby. Thanks for all your help so far! No one else is bothering to reply to this thread.

my motherboard wouldn't even boot with memory settings on auto, I had to set everything manually and tweak the voltages some.

that amd64 onboard memory controller pushes ram to it's max when running stock speeds

I played around with overclocking for several weeks and ended up ordering some superpremium ram after trying out several other sticks

my old lg4163 burns blanks that my benq 1650 spits back out like that

                              go figure
