    Drive Not Being Recognized

Hi, I'm working with an older burner but the person who owns the computer swears it worked fine for them when they were doing it. Unfortunately, they're out for a few days. It's a Toshiba. It's not even recognizing the blank discs when I put them in the burner to format and record.

I think it needs a firmware upgrade but I'm having almost no luck in finding what I need for that. Most of the posts I've read are to dead links in dead forums. On top of that, when I tried to download DriveInfo, a virus warning popped up on TrendMicro! So I backed out of that. Was the program hacked or something?

If someone can tell me where to start in fixing this burner I'd appreciate it!
It's a [FONT='Times New Roman','serif']TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-R6112 and firmware 1031. I have the patch to make it nonregion (from the firmware page), but don't have the (right) instructions that make sense to do it. I don't have a floppy on this computer.

I could sure use an assist here! Thanks
