1st Timer here - Slow Burn Speed w/ Nero Vision

    Specs....
    OS: Windows XP
    Burner: Lite-On DRW-6S160P
    Top Burning Speed Avail: 16x
    Running Nero 7/Nero Vision 4

I have been getting consistently slow speeds for awhile now. It is taking 6 hours for a 120-minute movie to burn with priority set to "high". Is this normal?

    Any advice after reading that?

Thanks for any and all help

If you are using vision to convert an avi to dvd files, like mpeg2, it's going to take a while

what's your cpu? that's usually the bottleneck

having only one hard drive can slow it down some, what else is running(use task manager)?

do you have plenty of free space(about 10 gigs)?

Is you drive cleaned up and defragged?

This is not a burn problem

      Pentium 4......1.60 Ghz (pretty slow)

Nothing that is taking up much memory...I am sure I might have an extra svchost or two, but I try not to run Azureus or other memory hogs while burning overnight.

I have an 250 GB external HD

do you have plenty of free space(about 10 gigs)?
I have 26 Gigs on the internal HD and about 200 on the ext.

      Not done this in awhile

I know this is over 2 months old.......but I completely forgot about my post here until I had to burn again.....

I am still having very slow burn speeds.....I understand the transcoding takes awhile with my CPU, but the burning is taking forever. A 120 minute movie is taking 60-80 mins. to burn.

I have my drives set to transfer in DMA, so that is not the issue. But the only think I can think of is that my external HD is causing the slow down. It is plugged into one of 2 USB ports on the motherboard.

Anyone else have suggestions here? These burn speeds are horrible.

            transcodes are not burn related
