To heck with Batman, I am sending up the NightTran signal

I have purchased & hope to be in possession soon of 3 x BenQ EW 1621 Optical 16x4x16 Ext Dvd +/-RW burners. One described as new & two described as mint. Obviously I will have to check out all three real quick after receiving them. As you can see all three are external, so my thoughts are to internalize one of the mint for scanning etc, then keep the other mint external (probably USB). After checking the new, place it back in the box & put it in the closet for later. So I am a sponge, ready to take in some BenQ knowledge. I am going to have to do some rearranging, probably take out one of my SATA opticals (right now looks like the LG), & have the Plextor/Benq Master/Slave, thoughts on which should be which?

I'm with night...shouldn't matter which is which.

I just ordered a Litey 20A1L and an NEC 7100S today so I'll be checking them out by the end of the week. Sorry I missed you Sunday soup...seems Sunday is my designated babysitting day now.

All three drives arrived this evening in external enclosures. I will call this Mint#1, had a few problems getting it to be accepted, but it finally was. So this is what I have so far. BenQ Dvd DD EW 1621 47N9. I also had to set the Region code to Region #1, there is one change left. Recognized as a CD Drive.

Mint #2, no problem with this one being recognized. Funny thing, I just noticed, the on/off switch is missing from the back of all the enclosures, you have to unplug them to turn them off. Recognized as a DVD-RW Drive.

When I talk about being recognized, I mean in My Computer, this one DVD-RW Drive. This would be the new one, which was proven when I set the Region Code to #1 & the correct amount of changes were left. No problem with this one either.

This is what Sammy thinks, SH-S203B SB01 (patched) @8X. Mint #1, Mint #2 & New respectively.

Well Mint #1 is on the iffy side of the fence right now, but I have to see if I can put one inside, probably put the Plextor back into it's external case, put Mint #2 in & leave new in it's external enclosure.

                        Hi folks,

@ Soup ... have you used any other "External Enclosure" besides Plextor (I guess Original one) for your DVD Burner(s)? If so, which ones you like the best?

Q1: Folks ... can anyone tell me how does this 1621 compare to 1640 & 1655 ones!?!?

Q2: Is Benq still in business ... I just saw a "Global" site and it shows that they have Burners (1810's)!?!?

BTW Soup ... just to be nosey how much each of the "BenQ EW 1621" costs you!?!? You can PM me!

                        Thanks,

                        G!

Yep I have used one made by Nexstar I think it was. I like the external case the Plextor was in the best. Don't like these BenQ external enclosures basically because they do not have an on/off switch, you have to unplug them. Mint #1 & 2 $40 + shipping, new $50 & got a deal on the shipping.

                            Hi Soup,

                            THANKS for your answers ...

Hey Soup you forgot to tell me if the 1621 is as good as the 1640 or 1655?

                            Thanks,

                            G!
