Scratch Disc

It doesn't happen all the time but I have been noticing that every now and then I find a scratch about 3/8 inch. long from the outside of the disc going towards the middle after burning a disc. Now this doesn't happen all the time. I was just curious what would be causing this? How to fix it?

Your drive may be going out, try looking at the disk before burning and carefully placing it in the drive and taking it out.
