DVD Burns but end of movie cut off.

I've managed to burn avi files into DVD format and burn the disc using DVDFlick software. However when the DVD is played back on the player all the movies are cut off at the end. The original avi file on the pc is complete and there was enough space on the discs.

Don't know what to do.... any ideas please?????

Generally it's a good idea to output to VIDEO_TS folder and check the video first. Then if it looks like it authored ok, burn using Imgburn. Another solution may be to get an UltraDivx DVD player or a set top box that can play multiple formats. I have Philips 5990 up-converting DVD players. They can play standard def .avi and .wmv but if I have an HD .avi file I have to size it down. A bit of a nuisance. Many set top boxes will play HD video files with little or no processing. If it can't handle DTS and doesn't have automatic down-sampling you may have to convert the audio track to AC3. But the quality of the video is better than upconverted.

Plus being able to play .avi off of DVD has the advantage you can put more movies on a single DVD disc. Converting to standard DVD video usually doubles the bit rate and the size of the files.

Thank you, I've taken your advice on board and will persevere, I've also had suggestions it may be due to old hardware not supporting .avi files over 4GB which will cause the cut off. Anyhow, thank you for taking the time to reply, much appreiciated.

If you think file size limitation may be an issue I would get Imgburn then ask on the Imgburn forum. The author of that program probably knows more about how burners work than anyone else on the forum. There are flexible choices for Disc file systems in Imgburn. I know there was an issue in the past about .avi > 2 GB requiring a certain file format but I don't know the details.
