    Can't flash my Pioneer/acer

    Hi - I've got an acer 1040 and I've been trying to use the pioneer 114 v1.24 region free flash.

    After working out the boot disk thing (I've got winXP), i ran upgrade.

    It got to an ide check and brought up a screen something like:

    executing Firmware upgrade...

    Now running MS-Dos V5
    DVD-114 firmware ugrade program
    --- UPG4.EXE VEr.1.00A
    Now IDE Checks

    ID=01 <- [0m<=[41m-->error: cd-rom drive not present
    ID=02 DVD-ROM 1.25 1999/11/01
    ID=03 Mitsumi CDR-48...

    Enter Target ID-->

    At which point, no matter what I type this brings up a 2 and then:

    No drive connected!

    and then it stops...

    And suggestions>?

        Sounds like the patch does not work...is there another one that you can use?? Are you following the instructions 2 the letter? Other than that I do not know...

          A few points:

          (1) Firmware version 1.24 linked on the Firmware Page is "official" (= region-protected) firmware. If you want patched firmware you can download v.2.06 from here:

          (2) If you decide to flash this (using a good quality DOS boot disk, of course) the command to enter at the prompt is:

          UPG4A /2 114F206.HEX

          (3) Don't forget that you also have to overcome region-protection in your software player using DVD Genie or Region Killer.
