    RegionKiller/DVDGenie with PowerDVD

All older problems solved (well, apart from my Nvidia driver not playing nice with high screen resolutions and DVD playback, but hey! That's a different forum!)

Have PowerDVD v. 4.0 and am already running DVD Genie. Tried previously to flash the DVD firmware to region 0 (sucessfully), but windows 98 failed, saying that that its code (2), didn't match the DVD-ROM's code (0)?? I can't find any way of setting the win98 code to 0 so I must have misunderstood something. Anyway, I don't dare fiddle with the PowerDVD code too many times either since it's limited to five changes, so what about region killer? As I understand it this circumvents both the windows and player region checks, so as long as the drive is set to 0 everything should be easy, AS LONG AS IT WORKS WITH POWERDVD.

Anyone know the answer to this??

It's a simple registry editing task, you've to erase the REG_QWORD value under the first key of the[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft] branch (export the key first as a backup). Reboot, the windows region is now set to 0.

      Thankx!

Guessed there must be a mystical string in the registry somewhere.

Actually region killer works a treat so I won't need it for now, but have archived the advice for future ref.

      Thanks again
