    "Selective" playback problems.

    Greetings everyone

Some time ago I got myself a DVD player - to be more precise, Toshiba SD-M1102 - and I have a weird sort of problem with it. Namely - it plays some DVDs, and the rest he plainly ignores ! I consulted all kinds of FAQs, troubleshooters, flashed firmware, installed dozens of DVD playing applications, eg. WinDVD, EasyDVD, PowerDVD etc. but still, the blasted drive doesn't cooperate.

I have a AMD K6-2/533/192 RAM and I'm running Windows XP on it.

Here is some insight into the problem :
    • It is not the zoning issue. All DVDs tested were Zone 2, PAL.
    • It's not the inability to read double layers. I had double layer DVDs which worked, and single layer ones which didn't.
    • The DVD has been tested as a primary slave and secondary master - without any differences.
    • When it DOES play a DVD, a playback is usually rather choppy and out of sync.
    • Of course, all normal CDs are read without any issues what-so-ever.
    • DMA is on. No issues there.
    • I tried deleting IDE controllers and reinstalling. Still the same.
    • Toshiba website doesn't even contain info about this model (I think the model is relatively old, eg. 4 years or a bit more), but it says that all Toshiba DVD-ROMS should not have driver issues with any Windows.

I am grateful for any sort of help.

    Regards,
