Flashing utilities for pioneer 106s

Is it recomendable using flashing utilities such as FUPW2K (available in www.firmware.st.fr)? If so, is this the best flashing utility or the most adequate available for my dvd-rom drive (pioneer 106s) What are the advantages of flashing utilities?
I use win 2000.
