benQ DVDgem - region free?

I'm just wondering if anyone has any information on the new benQ (Acer) DVDgem portable DVD drive (http://www.benq.com.au/products/dvd-...vdgem-feat.htm)?

I can't find any information anywhere on the net that tells me whether it is region-locked or not!

I have the chinese version of the player purchased at www.mp3playerstore.com this unit comes regionfree. The us version is appearantly not regionfree. My unit seems to play region 2 DVDs very choppily and does not seem to function correctly with all the menues. I'm goin gto contact their support to see if there's anything I can do about it as far as firmware upgrades or anything.
