Creative 5240E DVD

Hi, I wish to change the firmware on my Creative DVD5240E from firmware 1.14 to 1.30 to make it region free. I have downloaded the 1.30 firmware and it's instructions are not to easy to understand. I have a moderate level of computer skills and should be able to pull this off with more basic directions. My question is, can someone get me more basic directions to flash the firmware to 1.30. I have a Compaq Presario 5170, 350MHZ, Pent. 2, 10Gig., 256 Memory PC. I installed the creative DVD with the Dxr3 card and it runs great. It also installed a HP 9500 cd writer. Can you help me or send me in the direction where someone can help me. I can be emailed at my home email which is dlthomas59@msn.com or work which is dthomas@rchazelton.com I am not so concerned if I ruin the DVD drive as I paid only $ 20.00 for the whole kit. The PC is our spare and it would be great to make it region free. I have tried the Region Free software and I am able to access the region 2 Menu but the DVD will not play. Any help would be great.
