I think i need a crack. Im hopen it can be done w/ the remote control.

I remember seeing a site that had a list of apex machines and how to access the hidden features but i cant find it

Not plausible. I'm guessing you've used different brands of CD-Rs. Try burning a VCD on the same brand of CD-R as the the successfully played SVCD was burned on...

While testing out dozens of dvd players. I cam across the Apex 1100W, which did not mention supporting svcd/vcd standards. It wouldn't play any vcd but surprisingly played my svcd's I believe Apex had to remove vcd support from their players due to legal reasons.

If, in fact, this is the case, a simple workaround would be to use TMPGEnc as follows:

          File>>MPEGTools>>Simple Multiplex

          Load your VCD file

          Change mode to "MPEG2-SuperVideoCD"

Enter a new filename in the "Output" box

          Press the "Run" radio button

(Do not be concerned about any "Buffer underflow" messages you may see)

Burn (DO NOT ask burning software, such as NERO to CONVERT to SVCD, rather merely BURN as a SVCD)

By the way, if your not totally satisfied with your player, return it for a refund and get an APEX AD-1010 (with NO w). I read about this model somewhere that people were complaining that the company decided to disable to vcd feature on it, instead it has a yellow sticker on the box and can read .jpeg images. Some people that bought it said their store had a bunch of older 1010 versions that were still capable of playing vcd's. Worth asking...
