black and white tv-out

I have a problem with my tv-out when playing a dvd

I have a leadtek g4 mx 440.
Asus 16x dvd
Asustek dvd software
amd 1800+ cpu

I can get the desktop to display in colour in clone mode but as soon as I start the dvd the picture on the tv turns black and white and warped. when I stop the dvd It goes back to normal.
The picture on the monitor looks fine.

Tv tool is no good to me as I have the nv-17 chip.

any other ideas?
