dark areas look pixelated

I have a problem with playback of dvd's and divx's. The problem started just this week and I dont know where to start to fix it. All my movies are playing pixelated and the colours are more in solid blocks. This happens mostly in dark areas.

I haven't changed any of the computer settings, its on true colour 32bit and a screen res of 1024x768. I haven't changed graphics cards/drivers. I have only installed divx codecs. The picture is bad even in POWER DVD on regular dvd's. The picture was perfect last week!.

What should I do?

Since the problem is not limited to one or the other, it is likely that the fault is related to your video card.

1) Try reseating the videocard

2) Make certain that all connections are "solid"

3) As long as you've opened your PC, blow out all of that dust ;>}
