silly question

hi all. does anybody know how to remove a vertical stripe-line from the left area of the screen on dvd playback? it also appears on mpeg videos. i have a geforce2 pro video adapter with tv out and play dvd's with powerdvd. note that the line does'n appear on a captured image of the movie.
