    Is Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-C2302 region free?

    Hello!
    I have a Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-C2302 installed on my ThinkPad 600X, and I wish to know if it is region free...

      No DVD drives manufactured since 2000 come from the manufacturer region-free. To overcome region protection you need to flash region-free firmware — there is such firmware for this model here:

      You need to establish the current firmware version of your drive(use Nero Infotool) and then select the region-free version matching this. Once the drive is region-free you then need to overcome region-protection in your software player using DVD Genie or Region Killer.

      There are also several software solutions, DVD Region-Free and Remote Selector, but these cost money.
