    I cannot play avi files

I am having serious trouble playing avi files. I have now tried 6 different files but have had no joy.

Originally in Windows meda player it told me it couldnt find the codec. I then downloaded the Nimo pack (AS RECOMMENDED TO) and it now looks as if its playing i.e. the clock moves but there is no picture or sound. I have also tried to play them in DivX and Winamp but the same thing happens.

Please please please can somebody help me!!!

    1) Load the original .AVI video file into VirtualDub (or one of its many variants) or NanDub

    2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

    3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (BOTH video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

      It has under video stream:

      Frame size. fps 352x288. 25.000 fps (40000us)
      Length: 93708 frames (1:02:28)
      Decompressor: DivX 5.1 codec
      Number of key frames: 313
      Min/avg/max/total key frame size: 1132/1132/1133 (1347k)
      Min/avg/max/total delta frame size: 58/58/58 (5290k)
      Data rate:12 kbps (28.04% overhead)

Under audio stream there is nothing.

      I hope this helps

"Under audio stream there is nothing."

        This is a phony file...
