Playback audio level is very low. I work for a university and we have smart classrooms that use either a DVD-Rom in a PC or a set-top DVD player. While playing commercially produced DVDs from the DVD-Rom audio levels are very low. Audio levels are fine when playing music CDs. I have ripped several DVDs and have noticed that the audio levels are very low. I usually have to boost them about 15dB with Wavelab to go to VHS for decent levels. After reading many posts concerning audio problems I have gleaned (apparently) that there are 2 types of audio tracks and depending on whether you are using the outputs to a TV (AC-3) or to a Home Theater System (DTS) and that they can be significantly different in level. Does anyone know of a way (assuming that I'm correct about the AC-3 vs DTS signals) to change to the AC-3 signal for a higher level when playing back on the PC or is this a moot point? Thanks.
