    Detect DVD region

    Do you know how it is possible to detect the region of a DVD media (Let's say a movie).

    I guess there is a PC tool that allows to do ahat ?

    Not at my home PC but am pretty sure DVD Decrypter does in File Mode
    This isn't a learning curve ... this is b****y mountaineering!

      Yes, you can use DVDDecrypter or DVD-Genie on PC/Windows. Get the software from http://www.dvddecrypter.com or http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/software2.htm or get DVD-Genie from http://www.inmatrix.com sites.

      See the attached picture for an example of DVDDecrypter.

        That is giving Region information on the DVD media, right ?
        I mean not the region information of the drive ?

          Correct, media. For info on your PC drive, see Device Manager in Windows

            If it's an ORIGINAL COMMERCIAL DVD, carefully read the label and/or packaging...

              DVDDecrypter will give you much info in Mode Iso Read, even including maximum read rate!
              Rig :

              P - 4 @ 1.7 Ghz, 768 mb (133) Ram, Intel 845 chipset M'board, Seagate 60 Gig., 5400 rpsm hdd, Maxtor 40 Gig. 7200 rpm hdd, Hauppauge 880 pvr card, etc.. O.S. - XP Home Edition.

                Tools IFO -Region Information(Dvd Decrypter)
                Play your movie for some a couple of seconds and look at the dvd
                configuartion-info (on power dvd 3/4/5)
