    WinDVR3 captures AVI files?

    I have been reading a lot of posts over on DVDrhelp.com and most people seem to have a good opinion of the ASUS TVFM tuner card, but most of them agree the included software is that good.

    I am planning on buying the ASUS TVFM card so that I can record TV programs from analog cable. I want to record these files in AVI format not mpeg. So far I'm not having any luck determing which programs will allow me to do this.

    I want to record 720 x 480 full screen 30 fps using a relatively lossless AVI codec. I know raw AVI files are way to big but there are other codecs I can I'm sure.

    I read the users guide for WinDVR3 and it says nothing about recording in AVI. I read some posts about using VirtualDub as capturing software but I don't think it supported the resolution I want to use. Plus the fact I would like to be able to do unattended recordings (scheduling).

    Currently I am using a VCR as the TV tuner plugged into the analog pass through of my DV camcorder and capturing the video with Pinnacle Studio 8. This works great for me plus the fact that I can use Studio to edit and burn to DVD. The problem is I have to be there when the program starts and finishes.

    To summarize;

    I want to capture analog cable at 720 x 480 full frame rate as an AVI file which can be later edited by Studio 8. Is this unrealistic thinking on my part?

    I have a P4 2.4B, 512mb DDR370 memory, 2 120gb ATA100 7200rpm HDs, GF4 ti4600 vid card, Sony DRU510A dvd burner, Win XP Pro OS.

    Thanks for any help.
