my friend ripped a dvd and sent it to me. It has all VOB files. The files work fine with power dvd but i cant get the menu to work as a menu, it plays it like a movie. I have no idea what im doing when it comes to this stuff. Someone please help. I dont have a dvd burner either so i cant burn it to a dvd.

0when he has ripped it, the ripper has took apart of the menu as a film so it plays it as part of the film. it is normal with some rippers. don't worry about it, you don't really need to have a menu with a ripped DVD.

Chances are your friend used DVD Shrink, in the "Re-author" mode, to create the DVD. Doing so, while retaining the menu (instead of "movie only", that this mode is really intended for), will yield exactly the result you've stated.
