I have a couple of DVDs ripped on my hard drive, some of them have also been shrunk with DVDShrink. What do I use to watch them as if I still had the disk in the drive?

Trouble playing decrypted DVD's!!!
Hi there, I'am Just wondering if anybody has had any trouble playing back decrypted DVD on their stand alone player? (the one connected to T.V)
I live in the U.K. and when I bought the player I made sure it could play DVD-R, yet when I play a decypted disc in it, it plays O.K for about 5 mins, then all of a sudden the picture just freezes for about 8 secs then carries on playing, then about every 5 mins after thoughout the film, screen just freezes again, which is quite frustrating.
I know the problem is with my DVD player, as the discs work fine on DVD drive on my computer! But surely i can't be the only one having these problems.......Can I??
Just thought I'd post on here, to see if anyone had any suggestions of a brand of DVD player that plays decrypted discs with no problems, before I go shopping for another one, and find out it has the same problem.
Hope I've not bored you, I do tend to go on with myself.
Thanks, Paul.Comment

Hi, the DVD-R discs I am currently using are by a brand called Eclipse which I've not really heard of before, and the DVD+RW discs are by Maxell.
I'd be interested to hear what brand/type of discs others are using, and also what brand of players others are using, mines a Toshiba.
Many thanks.

Hi. I had something similar when I used Bulkpac -r discs - it kept freezing up about 10 mins from the end, stopping, jumping a few frames, sticking - until it locked up all togerher. Couldn't re-rip or do anything with the discs other than bin em. Sure is annoying - especially when you've got to just about the end of a film!
Was definately the media - I've just updated to a Tosh and it does the same on this machine with my Bulkpac rips. If anything the Tosh is even less tolerant. Switched to some Ritek GO4 media and I've not had a problem with it since. I use Ridisc at the mo as I couldn't get hold of some Datasafe Riteks at the time The Tosh seems a bit more fussy on the RW discs tho - havn't got any to work yet whereas the cheapie Alba took just about everything! There's actually not a lot of difference in price if you buy from a show or a decent Computer shop - but I've had enough of making coasters! don't know if this helps but I learnt my lesson I guess.Comment

try looking up your standalone on www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers to see if others have problems with your player.
Alas, checking a player will support a format of media doesn't prove the particular brand will workThis isn't a learning curve ... this is b****y mountaineering!Comment
