Sonic MyDVD trouble with burning (PLEASE HELP!)

Ok, im having trouble with my Sonic MyDVD Plus 4.5. You see, looking at the bottom right corner and seeing as it says that you can make up to 4.7 gb worth of video. But Im trying to add a 1 hour and 40 minute movie to my dvd and its only like 1.35 gb. But if I put it on the menu, it says that theres no more space on the disc thing. What gives? Now I cant burn the whole movie and only can burn half of it, and I only want it on one dvd. Plus, it says it can hold up to 3 hours of movie meanwhile my movie isnt even 2. Can someone please help me? I will put ur name in the credits of my next movie. Thanks in advance.

What is the present/original format of the movie?

WMV (MPEG-4) files are much more highly compressed (Perhaps 4 to 6 times more compressed) than are DVD format (MPEG-2) files. When you convert the files from the first format to the second, it will expand accordingly...

If the Sonic software will permit, save the DVD "package" (.IFOs, .BUPs, and .VOBs) to your hard drive. Then use DVDShrink to compress this harddrive DVD "package" to fit on one DVD...

So your saying, I should convert wmv to mpeg-2 and then do what with DVDShrink? What is it?

"So your saying, I should convert wmv to mpeg-2"

You're ALREADY doing that when Sonic converts the file to a DVD "package" of .IFOs, .BUPs, and .VOBs (The .VOB files are actually enhanced MPEG-2 files).

            "do what with DVDShrink?"

As I've already said, use DVDShrink to compress this harddrive DVD "package" to fit on one DVD...

            " What is it?"

As its name implies, DVDShrink is a (FREEWARE) program from compressing DVDs - and before you ask, you can download it at:

I just checked it and the site is working properly. Turn off your firewall, if you have one installed...
