Is there anyone out there who downloads movies. I have seen a number of sites, the charges seem very minimal even for the latest. Any info/advice would be most welcome before I commit myself.
which sites? what are the charges? what are the limitations?

Legal? I doubt it. Just like those sites that get you to pay memberships and you get "unlimited" mp3s. The major studios don't release their movies on the internet, period.
yeah i wouldn't do it. the internet is one big trap. don't go near it. that's the best advice i can give. better run a spyware/adware program on your pc just for visiting those sites too.

I did read an article where one of the major studios was considering to offer d/l's of movies. IIRC they were in dvd format. alot to d/l. also it was either netflix or blockbuster that was thinking about offering dvd's for d/l. can't remember where I saw it but I think it was netflix
FrankC: It is certainly not legal at the moment to download "full version DVDs" - if the MPAA won't even let people copy some DVD files to their computer, I doubt they would permit downloading of the entire DVD. I haven't used any of the sites you mentioned, but I will bet that these are basically sites that offer access to some sort of P2P network (their own private one) or even just instructions on how to use file sharing apps (very likely, perhaps they throw in some tech support along the way, which is what you are really paying for). It's all illegal probably, and it's a rip off because most free P2P networks are much better anyway.
Thanks for the replies, however I have decided to leave well alone. I'd be quite happy to pay for downloading movies if it were legal. One day I am sure it will be.
there are plenty of things that are legal to download from p2p sites.
