I am having a big problem with my Pioneer DVD-116 drive. I've been using it for
the past six months without any problems; the guy i bought the DVD from flashed
the firmware (I checked it with Drive Info when i installed it) and i used DVDGenie
to reset the region counter in WinDVD (the player I'm using). I have changed the region
this way at least 20 times.
Now the drive is locked to region 1. Windows doesn't even "see" a disc
from another zone if i put it in the drive. So I'm thinking it's got to be the
Windows region protection (I'm using WinME). I've tried reseting it with the latest
DVDGenie, but nothing happens. DriveInfo now tells me that the drive eis region protected
that it can be changed 4 times, but that it's NOT permanent. I than flashed the firmware
so that now DriveInfo tells me that there's no region protection, but the drive still
doesn't read DVDs from zones other than 1. Please help me, I'm getting quite
desperate and thinking of re-installing Windows.
