playback perfect on pc, but freezes on tv. problem with player?

hi! most of the movies we burn freeze toward the end of the movie when we play them on our dvd-player hooked up to the tv (in fact, they don't play at all on some other dvd-players). however, when we play them on our pc (or other pc's), they play without any problems.

i have read several threads on related questions, and those seem to suggest that there is probably somewthing wrong with the burn. i suspect, however, that the player is the problem. (we burn with the latest version of nero (as far as I know), with good media (maxell dvd-r), we don't use the computer for anything else when burning, and at just 2x. also, we always test the burn to make sure they are 100% good; using nero). does anybody know whether dvd-players are a likely source for problems with playback? and which dvd-players (or what characteristics about them) ensure a good playback? i would go out and buy another player, if that would solve it.

i would really appreciate any ideas that you have. thanks!

You state you are using Nero, please post a log and we will look at it.

Nero 6 history log location: Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt

Nero 7 history log location: Program Files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory.txt

It looks like Maxwell has gone to repackaging. The latest post shows the media ID as CMC MAGs. PURE GARBAGE!

Use better media like Verbatims or Taiyo Yudens!

Could you get the Media ID of the blank discs? You can use DVD Decrypter to find it out. Click here for the link. Also post the type of burner you have and the firmware version?

you can try dvd r+ and bitsetting to dvd rom, and set or target smaller ( 4200-4400) if bad media

This is Roxio's drivers, they cause nothing but conflicts when running on a machine with Nero. My suggestion would be to remove Roxio completely from you system.

              Nero API version: 6.6.0.15
Nero is a little old as well, update to 6.6.0.18 here:

I would also up your burn speed to 4X, sometimes burning too slow is just as bad as burning too fast.

so you guys are sure it's not a player issue? thanks again.

there are probably better players, but if it plays other burns then I would fix
media problem and go from there.

you could check out this thread, I am pretty sure your burner supports quality scans
                  gateway firmware might not tho

I really wanna know how this turns out, coz I have pretty much the same problem. I would guess it's the media that does it and not the player. For me the problems only happen at the end of the disk which is pretty annoying when you get to watch the whole movie except the last 10 min

I burn my images with imgburn 1.3.0.0

k 16x certified verbatim discs works just fine, so it all had to do with the media, i noticed after like 3.5gb or so on princo discs there was alot fo errors. not many on verbatim even burning on max
