Help Cd Rom Doesnt Work But Dvd Do

hi, ifeel just like that.

I bought a Gateway laptop . It was a new one and everything semeed to work ok. Recently, I deleted programs and added new ones. and now the DVD works but the Cd Rom dont'n. I place the disk and nothing happens. what should i think and do?
