I have a Toshiba Portege 7010CT laptop with a docking station. The docking station has a Toshiba SD-2102 DVD-ROM that is region free (it came that way, bought it off of half.com). My problem is that some movies (i.e. Shrek, Planet of the Apes, Three Amigos) play fine, and others (i.e. Twister, Meet the Parents, Shawshank Redemption) won't even register in the DVD player, as if there was no disk at all. So, I am wondering if these DVD's detect no region and refuse to be recognised by the device or is it something else? What would be the solution for this problem?
I should also add that all of my DVD's are exclusively RPC-1 (except for one, "Billy Joel - The Essential Video Collection", it is good for all regions except region 2 and it won't play either) and I really have no use for a region free DVD player.
