DVD writer wont work on XP but works on W2000

I have a sony AW-G170A-10 DVD writer installed. When I run under XP, the drive will not read the DVD disc. But when I log on to W2000 on the same machine, the unit was able to read the DVD disc.

Anybody experienced the same problem?
