vcd no sound on standalone player

I am having a problem playing dvd divx movies on my standalone dvd player using virual dub and TMPGEnc I get sound when ripped nero on pc but not on panasonic player it is not always the case though any ideas am using xp with as many codecs i can install without it crashing
