Help! All Files In My Documents Folder Deleted

So I went to use this program. Set the browse directory to "My Documents". Started to burn, got an error saying audio files were missing. Looked in My Documents to then realize that EVERY SINGLE FILE WAS DELETED FROM EVERY FOLDER. Every folder still exists, but every file is now gone.

Any ideas as to why this happened or how I can recover over 100GB of music / movies would be appreciated to the highest. Please email me at boppnick@swbell.net or AIM me at boppacesagain08. Check your recycle bin. They MAY be in there. You can restore them from there. If not, then you can try the system restore feature of XP but this is risky as you may overwrite an area that they were on.

I would look for a program to do this. Try googling "undelete freeware" first.

But if you have done a lot of digital work before noticing, then you may have overwritten that part of the HDD.

I wonder if the hard drive was almost full, doing a full video encode takes about 9-10 gigs free space

I think when he choose the folder he choose my document, it did ask before to start but he just say yes , I always make a new folder with flick, I think they are gone

I'm sure that is what happened...the program asked if you want to delete all files in the folder and you have said yes. I doubt if they go to recycle bin, if there is anything there consider your self lucky and create a working folder before starting a new project next time.

Dangerous. Chances are there's not much left of that 100GB in the Recycle Bin.

100 GB gone ... that's not good. I hope you have backups ...

DVD Flick (or any program for that matter) shouldn't really be designed to allow it to delete your files, accidentally, or deliberately with warning prompt or otherwise. It should be quite simple to automatically create a generic folder (eg. a folder named "DVD Flick Files") under the set output location and put all the files in there - then the worse case scenario is only the deletion of your previous DVD flick'd files.

I wonder what would have happened if the output location was simply set to c:\

I created a new folder on my second drive and put close to 8gb of files in it. I then converted a 1 min. video to that folder and sure enough, everything was gone.
