    Is this problem macrovision?

I have just upgraded to WinXP Pro from my previous install of Win98SE. I used to be able to view DVDs through my television but now I cannot. Whenever I play a DVD I get a black screen on my television. If the player is not full screen, then the video playback window is black. What's even stranger is that Windows Media Player (9) and Quicktime have the same problem. I made a video using my webcam and I had the same difficulty, but when I used the Intel playback software, I was able to view the video properly. Sound playback is fine.

I have searched high and low and found that I can get a signal with TVTools 6, but the colours are wrong, I also have remote selector, but unless I register it, I can't use the disable macrovision function, and I am unwilling to pay US$20 for software that may not work.

    A little system info:
    AMD1200+
    MSI GeForce 4 Ti4200 (S-Video out) Detonator 40.71
PowerDVD XP (4.0), Windows Media 9.

    Any advice would be fantastic.

In yout adaptor settings, select Overlay controls -> full screen device -> select "Secondary Display". This will send just the video on the tv-out, and you can even see the image...

      You rock!

It worked! Thanks so much, you have made my week, I have lost a lot of sleep and time trying to figure this out. Exactly what are overlay controls for?
