    macro. free dvd (hifi component)

Does anyone out there know of a good macrovision disabler for a standard dvd player to go into a hifi system? (Nothing to do with pc - just straight home theatre components)
I've read about various boxes that are connected in between the dvd player and the vcr/tv etc. After reading about these little wonder boxes i was considering a purchase.

Can anyone recommend a unit they have purchased that they are happy with? or perhaps any experience with these devices?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    DVD macrovision killing

    Hi,

So you want to duplicate DVD movies onto VHS. OK

With VHS copying you can eliminate 95% of the protection just by the cable connections but with DVD this is not possible

I use a mid range AVICO enhancer and a Jerrold General Instrumet satellite decoder but virtually any brand of scrambler/decoder will work but i would recommend you purchase one that is made in either USA, Australia or the UK
These chinese and thailand made models sold in radio shack are rubbish

Simply connect a cable from the Video Out of the DVD player to the decoder/scrambler and then go from the scrambler to the video in of the VCR
And you can connect the audio cables to your hifi equipment
    Dolby Digital decoder/reciever etc.

Macrovision only works through the video in and out and does not effect sound.

Question? - How old is your VCR(s)

Almost all post 1995 VCR's have inbuilt macrovision circuitry that activates the copyguard even if you have installed a scrambler
You will suffer from brightness fading from dark to light.

To defeat these you need to install an older VCR without the integrated circuits. So go from DVD to your older vcr with the decoder in between and then go straight from the old vcr to your recording VCR

    All done
