If it is an AVI program, you can do that easily using Virtual/nandub:
    1. Open video in said program
    2. Set Video and Audio tabs to Direct Stream Copy
    3. Under Audio tab, play around with the Interleave setting un til you get the wanted values (a little trial & error required here)
    4. Go to File -> Save as Avi. and give a name to it

    Hope that answers your question.

Will this work for Divx avi(s) too?

        Yes.

By the way, how exactly is the problem? Is it an audio that gradually lags behind as the movie goes on, or just one that is constantly not in synch. with the video?

Sorry for the gap in time between posts, It seems to lag about 5 seconds throughout the whole video

I have noticed this type of issue on a low-end system but ran fine on another. I guess the obvious question would be the systems resources and other applications running.

Try my first suggestion then. Under the Interleave setting, set the 'Delay Audio Track By' value to -5000 ms.

On further inspection, it seems to be 10 seconds early, so the I set the value to 10000, and when its finished rendering, the audio seems unchanged, it still starts 5 seconds in when it should be 15, what is wrong?

                  same problem

                  hi everyone!
i didnt want to start a new thread, as im pretty much having the same problem as MrDudeX.
i read through the threads on this topic and tried out the methods described.
i loaded my avi (it is a segment, i chopped the original in two, in order to convert them to VCD) into VirtualDub, set the video and audio to direct stream copy, then i set the audio delay to pretty much match the video stream.
however, after the dubbing, i play the file in my player and the lag still seems to be there.
did i miss out a step or did i just do something wrong?

edit:after dubbing, the audio is in synch for the first 10 seconds (approx.), then the lag returns...

                  thanks in advance
                  Mr.Gerbik

whenever you split movies with virtual dub or nandub
make sure that the audio in not in variable bitrate....

check the fileinformation in filedropdown menue to make sure...

if so check the posts of changing VBR to CBR in the subforums

make also sure that you do not have double or triple installed
the same audiocodec , use codecsniper to check and remove codecs if necessary.....

make also sure that no "reclocking program" is running in the background....

by the way... the mv2 player has capability do preroll or delay
an audiostream during runtime .... this helps to find out what
value of milliseconds should be used when reinterleaving....

                      Cheers for the help shiny!
you were right, the avi did have a VBR audio stream. i saved the audio as WAV and reencoded the whole thing.
                      worked like a charm!
