    No audio

I hope I am not in the wrong forum for this question and if so please point me to the correct one. Running Windows Media Player 6.4.07.1121 with DivX_311alpha.There are times when downloading movies, there is a small white "x" in the botom right of the grayed out yellow speaker. Video is OK but no sound. Any explanation for this will be greatly appreciated.

The most obvious thought is that the file you are downloading was created with video only - no sound.

The file can also have audio that's been encoded with a codec that isn't installed on your pc.

        1) I believe that if the writer was missing the audio codec, he'd see a message that the computer was attempting to download the codec.

        2) The "x'd - out" volume control is typically indicative of the fact that the file contains no audio.
