    Software for codec identification?

I have a video clip which was supposedly generated using the divx codec. However my blessed computer cannot locate a suitable codec, even though other clips work fine. Is there a program that can identify the codec used to creat the avi file, and if so where can I get a copy.

Thanks to anyone who can help and cheers for those who read the post.

Virtual Dub is probably the best program for you-
    VDub Homepage
Just load the video file into VDub (Either file->open or drag into the window) and select file->file information
This will tell you what codecs are in use.

      windows media player

      start the file in wmp
and then right click on the screen and pick properties
it should give you a breakdown of the codecs in use
      or click files then properties
you can also us virtualdub, fourcc, or movieid
