New to ripping DiVX..... Why is it when I rip a wide screen DVD 2.35:1 say, when I play it back the black bars are bigger than they were originally (as if it is compressed) I have selected 16:9 anamorphic etc. Using Godian 0.21 nay help gratefull received.

the default resolution to ripping DVDs for most programs is 720 x 480 which gives an aspect ratio of 1.5:1. This is obviously not correct which is why you are getting larger black bars (the picture is slightly stretched horizontally). Try entering a resolution which matches the correct aspect ratio.
Tip: You should try cropping the black bars anyways, it will improve the quality of your DivX. I'm not familiar with Gordian so maybe someone else can help you. -
